James brings entrepreneurial experience, commercial insight and a strong commitment to industrial growth.
He spent nine years with international chemical marketing and distribution company Ellis & Everard, progressing through its internal management development programme.
In 1993, James founded Exwold Technology with investment from a regional venture capital fund. Over its first 27 years, the company grew from seven staff to more than 120.
He is passionate about the North East of England's industrial future, supporting a competitive and sustainable region for advanced manufacturing and process engineering in chemicals and biotechnology.
His experience spans business start ups, venture capital fundraising, management team development and advisory support. He brings that perspective to his role as Non Executive Chair of Sherwood Power.
